General English is a program best suited for kids and adults who are just starting to learn English as their second language.

The program focuses on all four language skills such as:

Reading

Writing

Listening

Speaking

Students learn basic grammar and extend their vocabulary. But communicative skills is something that receives the most attention since the core goal of the curriculum is to make a student feel at ease in the foreign environment.

Materials of the following British and American publishing houses are used for classwork and homework: Oxford University Press, MacMillan, Pearson and others.

Classes for children of 7-10 years old usually last for 60 minutes, classes for children of 11 years old and older and for adults last for 90 minutes (2 academic hours).

Parents of all underage students receive monthly reports on the progress of their kids.

• Academic English

This course is intended mainly for 2 types of people: those who plan on working in an international company and those who plan on studying abroad.

Whilst following the curriculum students build a strong grammar base, evolve their academic writing skills and develop a vocabulary that covers a broad spectrum of topics.

This course also happens to be a necessary step for those who are willing to prepare for international exams sush as IELTS, TOEFL, SAT, GRE, but whose English level is still lower than the one required to begin the exam preparation.

• IELTS Preparation

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) measures the language proficiency of people who want to study or work where English is used as a language of communication. It uses a nine-band scale to clearly identify levels of proficiency, from non-user (band score 1) through to expert (band score 9).

The IELTS test assesses your abilities in listening, reading, writing and speaking.

There are two types of the IELTS test: IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training. Listening and Speaking are the same for both tests, but the subject matter of the Reading and Writing components differs depending on which test you take.

IELTS results are designed to be simple and easy to understand. They are reported as band scores on a scale from 1 (the lowest) to 9 (the highest).

A score is given for each test component – Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. These individual scores are then averaged and rounded to produce an overall band score.

IELTS test results have a 2-year validity period.

IClass Educational Centre has been providing IELTS preparation courses since 2002.

The curriculum is based on the exam structure, students analyze texts and graphs, listen to recordings of native English speakers, write essays, practice monologues.

During the course students expand their vocabulary and learn new idiomatic phrases and terminology.

Tutors use several coursebooks at once (as well as their own materials) to optimize the study process. The coursebooks of such leading publishers as Pearson, Longman, McMillan, Thomson and others are used for the classes.

Minimum English level required is Upper-Intermediate.

Entrance test is mandatory.

• TOEFL Preparation

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) measures your ability to use and understand English at the university level. And it evaluates how well you combine your reading, listening, speaking and writing skills to perform academic tasks.

Your scores are based on your performance on the questions in the test. You must answer at least 1 question each in the Reading and Listening sections, write at least 1 essay, and complete at least 1 Speaking task to receive an official score. For the TOEFL iBT® test, administered via the internet, you will receive 4 scaled section scores and a total score:

Reading Section (Score of: 0–30)

Listening Section (Score of: 0–30)

Speaking Section (Score of: 0–30)

Writing Section (Score of: 0–30)

Total Score (0–120)

TOEFL test results have a 2-year validity period.

The course is based not only on developing students' language skills, but mostly on improving their logical thinking and ability to paraphrase and use a good deal of synonyms.

Students learn to express and support their opinion, analyze texts, practice essays, recite dialogues.

Tutors use the materials of the leading publishers, such as Cambridge, Kaplan, Macmillan and, of course, ETS - the developer of the test.

SAT is a standartized test widely used for college and university admissions in the United States and, recently, in Finland.

SAT consists of the following sections:

The SAT test is scored on a scale of 400-1600.

Evidence-based reading and writing and Math sections are each scored on a scale of 200-800.
